You Can't Do It, It Won't Work!!!

Has God called you to do something that makes no sense to others? Do they tell you it can't be done? I have felt that way about homeschooling at times. There have been plenty of people over the years who have tried to make me feel crazy for trying to educate my children at home. With God's help I dove in. The comments stopped but then started up again when *they* saw that I was going to try to homeschool a High Schooler. I mean, what was I THINKING? To be honest there have been days when I have wondered if I was crazy too. But I knew that I knew that God had called me to it so quitting was/is just not an option.

Has God called you to do something that looks crazy? Perhaps He is calling you to live debt free? To serve Him in a full time ministry? To go overseas as a missionary? To go to college? To street evangelism? Can it be done?

I believe if God has led you to it, He'll lead you through it! I believe that God equips the called! I believe God's will never lacks His supply!!

Here is my favorite verse concerning following God's will for my life. It comes from Nehemiah. He knew all about naysayers!

"They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, 'Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed.' But I prayed, 'Now strengthen my hands.'" Neh. 6:9

Here is a poem by Edgar Guest called "It Couldn't be Done"

Somebody said that it couldn’t be done,
But, he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn’t," but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.

Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you’ll never do that;
At least no one has done it";
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he’d begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle it in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That "couldn’t be done," and you’ll do it.

I so needed to hear this. Just yesterday my mom was telling me I needed to get Zach into school. "It would be so good for him. He is so social." "Of course", she said, "He would need to do 1st grade all over again because what you are doing with him is not enough." I felt kicked in the gut! Zach can do 3rd grade math, he is reading at grade level, he is learning the same geography and science as his 4th grade sister. The only area we have not done is spelling and I will start that next year with him. When I asked her what she based her information on, she said "Well, I asked him to spell one of Casey's (my great niece who is 1st grade) spelling words and he couldn't." I asked her to please not "test" my children behind my back and asked her if Casey could do multiplication. "No, she is only in first grade." My point exactly! Sorry about the rant!!! Your post gave me my focus back!!

AMEN! And really whose business is it anyway how you choose to educate your kids????? For every person who has said you are nuts for h-schooling your kids, we've had one telling us we were nuts for not h-schooling ours. God calls everyone to different things and the important thing is to FOLLOW HIM.
